Brain Cancer Canada has awarded the $100,000 Emily McIntosh Brain Cancer Research Grant to Dr. Sheila Singh and her team at McMaster University, in collaboration with the University of Ottawa, to advance innovative immunotherapy research for glioblastoma.
The project, “Dual Targeting of Glioblastoma with CAR T and Viral Immunotherapies,” aims to combine two promising immune-based treatments to better recognize and attack this aggressive brain cancer.
The grant honours Dr. Emily McIntosh, whose belief in the power of research continues to inspire hope for families facing brain cancer.
“Emily followed Dr. Singh’s research closely because of the hope it offered — not just for patients today, but for the future of brain cancer treatment.” – Katie McIntosh
Since 2015, Brain Cancer Canada has invested nearly $3 million into brain cancer research across Canada. This grant is one of six announced during Brain Cancer Awareness Month, representing a combined investment of $425,000 in promising Canadian research.
